These are pictures of the Willapa Bay Lighthouse in North Cove, Washington, shortly before it was demolished in December of 1940. It was originally built in 1858 to guide ships into Willapa Bay, but the erosion along the shore threatened it almost from the beginning. A storm on Christmas Eve, 1940, became the final nail in its coffin.
